What is Upskilling and Why Does It Matter?
To keep it short and straightforward, upskilling is the process of increasing your skill set to match the competitive job market. It’s becoming increasingly challenging to stay stagnant with your resume and adding 2-3 more accomplishments under your belt will significantly boost your chances of getting hired. If you’re a fresher or a few years into the job market – it’s even more important for you to get a skill upgrade. Diversification of your skill sets with a strong upgrade will go in hand with your transferable skills.

Understanding Transferable Skills
Think of “portable skills” which you can carry over from one seemingly unrelated job to another job. These could be as easy as the quick thinking or problem-solving skills you acquired from being a driver for a gig. Consider those soft skills such as clear communication, time management, teamwork, creative thinking, and adaptability. Something as simple as this can open a wide array of potential jobs for you, that you may not have even considered before. Did you work as a teacher and gained empathetic listening, teamwork, attention to detail, etc.? Well, guess what? You just opened yourself to the potential world of Babysitting, Tutoring, Tele-calling, Marketing, Customer services, and much more!
Keeping a check of your own credentials can serve as a massive boost to your CV without taking any formal skill upgrade. Especially in instances of layoffs, where you want to get a job fast to support your financial needs, knowing your connecting qualifications can help you even transition to a newer industry. Even if you’re considering switching jobs, being mindful of your transferable skills can help boost your chances of securing a job faster.
